If you want to do it yourself, just buy 'generic bulk orbeez' (they are meant for toy guns, not what im doing), they come as tiny pellets that grow with water. If I had a tripod and more, I would time lapse the entire thing, what you see in my video is just me draining off the excess water. They are fun to lay in too, as they dont squish easily but act like Jello and move around.
I'm the same way, I can notice noise some, but as far as contrast, and such, forget it. I know what looks good to me, or what doesn't, and that is what matters. I have seen a couple pics from the axon 7 that I can in all fairness agree were bad, however that can be said of every smartphone, or even every camera out there. Sometimes bad pics happen. In my opinion, from what I have seen of pics taken with the Axon 7, it will be more then I need. I prefer my samsung wb2200. I bought a camera, because I wanted a camera, and I bought a smartphone, because I wanted a smartphone. I know what I like, and want.
Not to get technical, but borrowing a quick quote from photocritic.org: "An image with high contrast will exhibit a full range of tones from black to white, with dark shadows and bright highlights." A little more contrast would help with the slight dullness/haziness in some shots.
That still doesn't determine what a good pic is to me. My eyes do that for me. I don't need a photographer to tell me if a picture looks good, or a winemaker to tell me if the wine tastes good. If I like it, then it's good Everyone's tastes differ, and of course you are entitled to your opinion. I just disagree, as a few of these shots look gorgeous to me.

Not bad, but not blown away yet. Many of these are a bit low on contrast.

That was pretty neat!

I am with you on this. I think the majority of people see it this way.
