Yeah, honest is the key for testing and what your background might be.

  • fzrrichfzrrich United StatesPosts: 4,257 mod

Congrats! Sounds like you had a great experience.

Create comment! I don't see why any beta tester would lie about reviewing a unit. I mean the end goal is to have a better product and help correct potential issues with the unit and (or) software.  Lieing about that helps no one. If you truly dislike a device and think hate has numerous flaws I would assume a manufacturer would appreciate that feedback as well.

Beta testing is always so much fun.  I've beta tested a few products/services... I had beta tested a bank app even where they deposited real money in our accounts for a few months.. that was awesome (and unexpected).  Currently I'm testing a whole house DVR set up so I get every tv channel available for free... (well for the cost of what I was paying before the beta anyways.. they just upgraded me at no additional cost).

But at the same rate, I've applied for tons... as mentioned above.. be honest, active, and don't give up.  I still apply for every beta that interests me.

How do you find all these different beta's to test?

  • ironbaybeedollironbaybeedoll United StatesPosts: 4,630 mod

There is one site that is amazing, but I am not sure I am allowed to link to them or not, .... might be able to answer that for me... I don't wish to get tossed from here lol

  • fzrrichfzrrich United StatesPosts: 4,257 mod

Please don't! You add a great value to this forum. Love reading your posts and point of view.

  • hiker75hiker75 FloridaPosts: 108

There is the one thread about which 1 site people would choose that has it listed though..

Yes, I'm actually on two betas for beta bound right now. If you have a lot of times on your hands, and have some time and dedication to really becoming a beta tester, utest.com is a very rewarding program to become a part of. Like I said, it does take dedication, such as you have to pass a qualification exam/practice test. But, it's the most lucrative and rewarding Beta Testers site I've found.

I've never done Beta testing before and I am curious to know how the whole thing works?

  • ironbaybeedollironbaybeedoll United StatesPosts: 4,630 mod

Simplified version is this, (keep in mind every company runs their beta a little differently, so don't hold me to it) A company usually will post they are going to hold/run a beta. They usually have you fill out a questionnaire, they need to make sure you fit the profile(age, location, experience, this list varies) If you are chosen, they notify you, and you will need to signal couple legal forms, the most important is the non-disclosure. This form basically is a contract, where you agree that you will not in any form disclose details, photos or any other information regarding the test, or test device, Very Serious Form, don't sign it if you cant keep a secret, they will hold you accountable.  After this comes the device, they will ship the item to you( if doesn't cost you, and they usually include a return label), assume at all times the item is to be returned., many are. Now you have the device, you are to begin using it, as you would normal use this type of device. Lets assume for this example they sent you a phone. You need to make your normal calls, send texts, surf online, basically everything you do on your phone you will now do on the test phone. You need, and should report in everyday, sometimes several times a day,. Let them know what is working, what you like, what doesn't quite work, what is totally broken, missing, and where you think they can improve. Than at the end, they will have you ship the device back, some companies will allow you to keep the device, but many are not ready yet. Some companies even choose to offer their top contributors incentives. So that is how betas work, it is a lot of fun, and you get to see a device usually way before anyone else.

If I forgot something please feel free to add.
