Google has just released factory images containing the May Android security patch.

This update doesn't bring changes to your software version, it will be sitting at Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow still. Factory images available for the Pixel C (MXC89F), Nexus 6P (MTC19T), Nexus 5X (MTC19T), Nexus 6 (MOB30I and MMB30G), Nexus Player (MOB30G), Nexus 9 LTE (MOB30G), Nexus 9 Wi-Fi (MOB30G), Nexus 5 (MOB30H), 2013 Nexus 7 LTE (MOB30J) and 2013 Nexus 7 Wifi (MOB30J). Dislike the wait? Download the factory images at the link below.

Please remember, flashing a new image will restore your device back to factory settings. Either wait for the over-the-air update to arrive or feel free to flash at your risk and convenience.

New release notes for this May Android security patch ave been published. Full details can be found at Android Security Bulletin. 25 security issues were resolved from the look of things, 6 were named critical. Google also notes it has received no reports of any devices exploited by these vulnerabilities, which is great news.
