the use of Android code has no licensing fee its a free and open source OS that any company can use, the only requirements for use of Android is if you want to include Google services you have to meet the requirements by Google and include certain apps for Google. Other than that OEMS can choose to use stock code or modify and add there own UI elements as well as apps and what have you.

  • That's not entirely accurate, to say the least. For example, it all varies on the OEM making sure it is well optimized. Just because you add something like nova or google now launcher doesn't automatically mean it's going to outperform devices not using a "stock style" launcher. I'm sorry to tell you but that's now it works. Now if the system was not optimized for the default then maybe installing a lighter/simpler one will help with some of the problems. But installing a stock launch doesn't magically fix everything.

I have faith that ZTE is listening to us and the more we make it clear to them that we want Stock android and NO MiFavor the faster and more likely it will happen.

I agree if you HAD to pick a skin, Oxygen isn't too bad. It is smoother when it come to scrolling in apps like Facebook, ESPN, Twitter ect. The 6P and Pixel are the kings when it comes to smooth. They rival Apple products.

I can't imagine that a skin affects scrolling in individual apps - unless they've changed some kind of internal buffering settings in the OS itself, which is pretty unlikely.

You may be right.  I can tell you that on my A7 I do get differing degrees of smoothness depending on which launcher I use. Also my OP3 was a smoother device that the A7.

  • Haha, I'm a little too old to have a message war via ZTE forms about the UX, my comments clearly say in my opinion and personally. And you responded to me. If you don't want me to respond back then don't reply to my comment when it clearly states this is my personal views. Smh...

I have the same issue with the weird pictures in the gallery.. I just didn't pay attention to it until you mentioned it.

Another instance of the horrible software crippling a potentially awesome phone.

  • i would like an average of stock and mi favor.I hope they do more customization options akin to nova launcher but not too much  so that quick updates are not an issue, and every action can be two clicks away .

Id love to see them partner with the developers of Nova Launcher to include free prime on the Axon, I bought it already but with it unlocking all the features of Nova it would be a great replacement to the MiFavor launcher and would required ZTE updating at all.

That's a pretty good idea.  Good for ZTE, good for Nova, and good for the users.  Even if ZTE wants to customize their UI, there's no reason they should write all the code.  And make it all replaceable - most users won't touch anything, no benefit to preventing the rest of us from tweaking stuff...

Now that's  a brilliant idea!  Put stock android on the phone,  add full Nova launcher integrated with maybe Textra for messages..... both proven to be very useful and popular among Android users and members of Z-Community

I'm all in on that combo. At the lease give me stock Android and I will add he other 2.

I think with the latest issue of music apps getting killed when turning the screen off, it's even clearer now that it's better to have a stock ROM.

  • I have the A7 6+128 that couldn't make it abroad.

I can manage to understand some Chinese but under the circumstances, on the wheel, with my toddler uncomfortable, I had an unexpected request from Mifavor and I had no other option but to answer YES to everything because there was no back buttom. Kaputt! the phone was formatted to the 0 position. I can't hate more this Mifavor thing.

Yes. Please. Offer whatever you want as apps. You can even have your own launcher. Crippling the UX because you want to look different is not acceptable.

  • I read a comment about Mifavor updates where someone answered that these couldn't be harmful. I thought that was the case, and as I already said, there was no back buttom, somehow in the same aggressive way in porno and similar pages.

  • The Standard eperience i.e. messaging and phone are not a patch on for example HTC. I've replaced everything with Nova launcher and Google mail for example.

Don't mind the UI but it has some issues and it can always get better if the company or devs work to improve or fix them. I like different I don't like same UI on all devices so stock Android is boring and don't have some features as custom UI. So improve and all have a nice NEW YEAR.
