I just did the update last night ..works great so far!
After I updated it... I performed another factory wipe just to ensure everything would be smooth... although I'm sure it would have been wiped anyways during this upgrade process...my OCD kicked in lol!
I have not experienced any Dolby Atmos issues.
Good thing is, as another member chimef in... You can always go back to official nougat 7.1.1 if you want too!
That's a good point. It's not as if I am stuck with the new like an apple 😂
Considering that ZTE has been pretty radio silent about the Axon 7 since the latest update, and the fact that the Axon 7 is now almost 3 years old, I would say it's unlikely... But they were radio silent before the latest update launched, and if they are willing to bring in another update to add functionality, then awesome. Either ways I'd have no real complaints
I would say they are done with updates on the Axon 7. I may be wrong but I thought they said as much in one of the threads here.
Random Question In the wrong room but... Does anybody know if this will work on an Axon M? I'm desperate lol ...
This update is not compatible with the Axon M.
Did the update and everything went smoothly.
Only issues I have is that I can't sync up one online email address (an @mail.com account) and that my other emails don't update unless I go in there and refresh manually. No clue what's up with that but it's getting annoying.
If i can get my emails working again, I'd say it's worth the hassle...
My son has been using this phone so I now decided to install this oreo. I hope that the are going to continue with some updates for stability and especially security. Android PIE would be nice at this point.
Now that I have been running Android 8.0 official oreo…. works great by the way.
I managed to pick up a dirt cheap Google Daydream View 2 headset ...so just to experience that I want to downgrade back to Nougat 7.1.1 official.... I have the both versions (8.0 and 7.1.1) on the root of my sd card...
I went to try and install 7.1.1 from the sd card by turning off the device and holding the power button and up button key combo..got the expected android menu... when I went to choose update from sd card thinking I could just choose the 7.1.1 version on the card like when I upgrade to oreo...I get an error msg from the ZTE indiciating "Sorry, OEM unlock not enable. Can not update from SD card."
any help would be appreciated friends!
Are you using the official oreo firmware from zte's site (https://www.zteusa.com/support_page?Enter+Model+Name+or+Number=AXON+7) (go to to Resource-->select product to find the firmware-->B35).
Yes using official 8.0 Oreo currently and have the B35 7.1.1 which I'm trying to install...
I figured out the issue in case any one has the same problem.... both are my sdcard files are official ZTE firmwares Nougat 7.1.1 B35 and Oreo 8.0 official….in order to downgrade I had to go and activate the developer options menu in settings and change the setting for OEM unlock to enable..once I did that I powered off the device and was able to downgrade from the official ZTE Nougat 7.1.1 oem ….the phone has never been modified in any way...and always on official builds.
Sucessfully downgraded back to 7.1.1 B35 and going to try out Daydream...I got the daydream View 2 2017 headset for dirt cheap :)
Anyone else lose Cell data all of a sudden?
Out of the blue, every few days, Cell data is gone and nothing other than reboot brings it back. Extremely annoying.
Anyone else have this issue?
have you tried to reset the network setting?
I did not. What does it do? Will I need to reconfigure anything?
It just reset Wifi, BT, Cellular settings. You need to reconfigure them (prob not cellular). Not sure it will help but worth a try. Sometimes network issue can be sim related, if you happen to have another sim to try, maybe worth to give it a test.
