Community Talk 2018

sshasansshasan Staff MemberUnited States Posts: 3,735 admin

With 2018 coming to a close, the Z-Community team is looking forward to planning for the new year.

Z-Community is no stranger to polls, contests, fan meetups and even a few off-topic conversations but we’re looking to do something new, something bigger and better than we’ve done in the past.

We’re not looking for any hate comments or bashing so if that’s your thing, please move on.

We want to know what would you do?

What type of involvement would you like to see from the community team?

How would you like to be more involved in the community?

What new programs or type of content would you come back day after day for?

Leave your suggestions in the comments below. We’d like to hear from each and everyone of you. Leave your comments by December 24, 2018 at 11:59PM EST and you will be entered into a raffle to win (1 of 5) prizes drawn randomly. Winners will be announced on December 26, 2018.

We want to know what would you do?

Get us back in the loop and communicate your plans for the future, even if it is to say you do not know yet. Also give us an update on where things stand and who is still in board. It has been a rough year and many people at ZTE are no longer posting.

I would love to see ZTE focus on good hardware at an aforafford price. I would also love to see Android One devices. I feel manufacturers can make a name for tgemthemse by adopting this program and sticking by devices with regular seciy updates. I do not feel spending time tweaking and customizing Android is money and time we'll spent.

What type of involvement would you like to see from the community team?

Open up the beta opportunities again and do more byod betas like the Axon 7 updates. I would love to see some AMA or other Q&A meet ups in person and digitally.

How would you like to be more involved in the community?

I would love to jump back in with answering questions and interacting with other community members in person and online. I would love to see a resurgence of polls and open discussion and feedback on new device ideas. I am still searching for the next dual spakwr phone to replace my Axon 7.

What new programs or type of content would you come back day after day for?

Polls often get me to pop in. I also like free response questions that would go into device and software feedback. It would be nice to know that comments and ideas are seen by those that make decisions on what is next.

I think having an open dialogue is super important. I agree completely with Jason's comment that I too was expecting more dialog after the ban as I wanted to know what was in store for the future. I think things like Q&As and meetups are great! I would love to meet up and talk with official staff and fans. I would also like more opportunities to give my feedback either through surveys are beta testing. Honestly any content that helps me believe that I have some sort of voice and that ZTE values that input.

They main thing I would like to see is more update information on devices. I have the blade zmax and if feels that it's at the end of life. So some more feedback on we're devices are at in updates would help. Also like has been posted more information on what's happening with ZTE so I don't have to read it on the news . I think more contests does bring more community involvement. Also I really appreciate that too as well. I also like the idea of more testing for decides. That's one way I would like to get involved.

I have to basically echo everything that @jasonscarter said in his reply. A lot of us have been here a long time and aren't willing to give up on ZTE yet! We need to find a way to get this community back to what it was, full of interaction and excitement.

First off I want to say I think 2019 will be a much better year for ZTE and our community. I think there has been some good feedback here already as to what can be done to make folks feel better. I know you want to do "something new, something bigger and better than you've done in the past" but in my opinion I think if you (Z-Community Mods) go back to your 2016 playbook and repeat what you were doing at that time things will be much more active and fun in the community. I don't know of any other company that does more for it's community than ZTE does. I think as new devices come out and get social media attention it will help get more interest in the Z-Community and get people coming here.

I like what the community has done so far with meetup, beta test, focus group, poll, contest, giveaways etc. I feel that the community is really the first place where users would seek information about ZTE devices and I hope this would be the same in 2019. In my opinion, the community is a valuable place because I do feel that many of our opinions and suggestions have been taken into consideration. So kudos to team and continue to do what you guys have been doing.

In the coming year, I want to see the community expand. I do hope that there would be more beta testing program.

I also feel that ZTE should have a clearer roadmap with the software update and using the community as a medium to communicate with its users.

I feel the community is a great platform and would love to see it being used as a support forum where users can come to hang out to learn about their device. Also, I would like to see ZTE support team to be more involved in helping with customer’s warranty issue.

The community can be expanded showing other ZTE devices since we all know that there are plenty of interesting stuff that the rest of the world gets to play that US customers do not have the opportunity.

@jasonscarter said it pretty well. Going to see if I can add anything to it.

We want to know what would you do?

If you want to build the community you need to help people interact and a forum is ok but a chat would add to that. Also maybe create some online team for games that people like to play like PUBG for example. May have to run some tryouts though. Those who make the team gets discounted devices to represent the ZTE USA Team.

What type of involvement would you like to see from the community team?

Would like to see a IRC chat room or something like that. The open source community uses these and they do pretty good with it. It allows for people to jump in. ask questions and maybe get answers real time. It would allow for more community feel.

How would you like to be more involved in the community?

I think a chat would allow people to be a little more involved and also I think people would get to know each better as well as they can actually chat about things rather than messaging back and forth. Also I loved testing out products for ZTE and would like to see that to be expanded.

What new programs or type of content would you come back day after day for?

Time is something that is of limited supply for everyone. So if you can make shore surveys or polls that I may come back for each day. However nothing big other than once or twice a month.

What type of involvement would you like to see from the community team?

    1.  I would like to see the team continue to interact with users

    2.  As hard as it may be, the team should be able to keep other members respectful

How would you like to be more involved in the community?

    1.  I'd like to be able to contribute respectful answers to those questions that I can answer based on experience

    2.  Be a specialist in a specific device.

What new programs or type of content would you come back day after day for?

    1.  Weekly contest maybe for Play GC or ZTE SWAG

    2.  Opportunity to get/add to community content

I am excited for 2019 for Z-Community and ZTE. I would like to echo what many have already said and add that I'd love to see the community grow and perhaps gain back a little bit of that relaxed friendly forum feel that we had at the beginning. We all talked tech, zte devices, and such, but we also had some fun threads going and made friendships. It's great having a spot to discuss your devices current and rumored especially when it is a friendly inviting area, even better when your device is being wonky. So I'd love to see some community building threads, (off topics revamped, hint hint lol) some giveaways and discussions that have value.

This is super old-school, but I wish you guys would ping me by email more often. I have a really busy profession and after-work life and forums are really hard thing for me to stay topical with, unless I get a daily digest. One email a day from this forum with a digest of new activity would keep me a lot more engaged. If I've missed how to do this, just ping me and let me know

I know allot of people said this, but I think it is important that there is more imput from the moderators here. What I mean is when someone asked a question that only a moderator would know like when is a Axon 7 flagship replacement hitting the USA, or like will the Axon 7 hey any more updates or was the last one , the last one as an example. Usually questions like that do not get direct responses. Even if the Seder is that We have no clue or yes but I can't say much or I'll find out and get back, and get back to us, or no and a reason why, etc. Also ZTE has been still making the news lately. It would be nice if the Admins here would also post on them as well. Even if they have to wait for an official word on what to post here from the ZTE higher ups. Anything to dispell the fake news from the true news and also how those stories effect us users in the US as far as future software or HW updates. I know the latter half of 2018 was a trying year for ZTE, despite releasing 2 mid-range phones, those wanting a willing to pay for a Axon 7 flagship replacement or want the latest Android are left out. So even if the Admins here are planning to be silent for a while like they were most of 2018 until whatever/whenever happens, at least also post that this is what is happening to save a bunch of what is going on threads. Sorry if I seem to be rambling. I am posting this from my ailing A7. Thanks for reading.

@rasalon moderators   need to stay in their lanes. Those lanes are not to provide when devices will hit specific markets.   Or answer questions about when a beta might be released for a device.  If you've been on here for a while,  you should know who the mods are. I'm not one by the way.   I think you can expect ZTE USA to ask moderates not to answer specific questions about specific topics of conversation.  Ailing Axon 7? Have you gotten any help with that?  From a moderator?

We want to know what would you do?

Be more transparent, especially during the export ban. It felt like the community was out of the loop and had no clue what was going on or if ZTE will even be back once there's a settlement. There wasn't much info during that time. But I am glad they're back and active again in the community.

Another would be more meetups hosted (though I know it's hard to choose a location...); maybe once every 3 to 6 months? Get the fans and community more involved, get to know the person in real life.

What type of involvement would you like to see from the community team?

Meetups, open beta testing (device or software), have a discord server or some sort of chatroom for those who just want to have an open chat, could be anything or device related.

How would you like to be more involved in the community?

Chats, product specialist, share knowledge and experience of the product once familiar with it, more testing, etc.

What new programs or type of content would you come back day after day for?

Polls and short surveys, chatrooms, and open testing programs,

I'm not looking for anything specific from the community.  I'd like to "go back in time" to where we were before the dark days, the issue is the only way this community is vibrant is if ZTE is vibrant.  The community was alive because there were new products, beta tests, anticipation of a new flagship, etc.  Unless ZTE as a company gets its US mojo back, there isn't much hope for the community and once ZTE does get its mojo back, then @sshasan and @Aerospaceman will have an easy job (which is what we know they're good at! :open_mouth: )

We want to know what would you do?

I would make sure that ZTE has a bigger social media footprint for 2019. I work in social media and I can clearly see that companies have not even begun to bust the whole social media machine open. There's so much potential and with so many users online 24 hours a day, there no limit.

What type of involvement would you like to see from the community team?

I would like to see the team do more with the community with meet-ups, Q&As, roundtables, etc.

How would you like to be more involved in the community?

Expanding on my previous answer, it would be nice to allow the community members to lead roundtables or to create a ZTE sponsor local meet-up that could be streamed so the community members can see and interact.

What new programs or type of content would you come back day after day for?

Device update info, real news on ZTE products and not rumors, videos, a weekly contest, SPro3, more beta testing spots or just anything really to keep us engaged.

@diamonddave ; That may all be true. But at least they could say that they can't say anything. That is all I am asking vs. just unanswered questions. For example and not that I plan to do this, but if I asked the moderators here about any future updates to the A7 or a successor for the US, I would get silence. Not we are working on it, or we have nothing planned, or not even a I can't talk about it. Not even a no comment or I pled the 5th. That is all I am asking for so we users can stop spin oro wheels. As far as my AUNT. I just have to find someone local near me to replace the battery and fix the charging port. I have posted on this before as I am outside my 2 year. My thing is though if nobody can say what ZTE will do bas far a flagships in the future phone wise maybe I should buy a 1+. I love my Axon 7 and I want to stay with ZTE. Just need communication from moderators. Hope and waiting only goes so far.

I can assure you, when they have something to say, they'll say it.  Companies don't release information because some random customer asks for it in their community.  They have well organized marketing and PR departments that approve the release of information and it is generally done through multiple channels, of which the community wouldn't even be primary.  No matter how many times someone in the community asks "Will xxx get xxx?" there won't be an answer unless it has already been publicly disclosed.  That's just now how it works (everywhere).
  • rasalonrasalon IT Technical Support Team - ALS|Resolvion United StatesPosts: 140 ✭✭✭✭✭✭
@louisd That may be true, but my whole point is on those threads where people continually ask questions like your example or on new threads people make because they don't notice a previous one made by someone else on the same topic, they should do like a standard lock on the thread or at least have somebody lock the multiple threads made and pin a post on that main posting that says something like: "ZTE has not said anything about... and will post something about.... if they do" as an official pinned post , Or something to that effect. My point is, if something like that is posted at the beginning of a thread where someone asks a question like when will we get XYZ or when will this phone get update XYZ as examples, then those threads will be leaner and  hopefully that pined post will stop people asking the same question multiple times. Rumors and discussions from outside this forum from websites that are posted are another story. So as an example when I see a thread about for arguments sake asking about a A9 for the USA, and a post like I suggested is on the top of that thread, when people actually read it, they will know to wait until ZTE says something official if they do (and if not then so be it) vs. people asking the same question over again only to be answered by someone here whom is not a official moderator whom is just guessing. That is all I am saying.
