Audio stops playing

I upgraded to Oreo and everything was fine for a while .  Now on two different players the audio freezes randomly. From a couple of minutes up to 10 minutes or so. But not on Pandora. Cleared cache of apps and system cache. Uninstalled apps and re-installed  Any thoughts?

Does this issue happen on the built in speakers also, or is it limited to a specific output, e.g., Bluetooth?

Also, are you using the web browser at the time of the issue? if so, I recommend trying firefox mobile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox&hl=en

and then installing ublock origin extension into firefox mobile https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/ublock-origin/

This is to ensure that there is no embedded ad on a website that has a silent audio track which can take audio focus away from a music player (some poorly made ads, especially animated ads) will contain an audio track that is simply blank.

Also make sure you have no malicious apps installed which may cause this issue, as apps which which may have malicious ad support (e.g., ad clickers and secret youtube view farming) can also cause audio issues.

Pandora is fine?  Could be wonky power management settings for the apps you have issues with.  Try turning power management off for those apps.

when you said audio freezes, do you mean audio files saved on the phone/microsd card or streamed audio? If it's streaming, then it may just be network issue (could just be at the server end).
