I have always preferred something that looks like it pops up while what was focused on fades to the back, or something that is integrated with that focal point, than something that takes over the entire screen kicking it out.
This is so minor, it makes it hard to decide. I ultimately went with the regular design because it guarantees a good contrast between background and text.
Ooh i didn't even think of that. Very true.
Although I agree with that the change is very minor I prefer the new design because it is just that, a subtle change, I like it
P.S. I just asked "Zeek" he likes the new design too
I like change, I said new design. It is subtle, but nice.
It took me a while to figure out if I was looking at anything besides the color changes, but yes- the new design where it changes based on wallpaper color is neater than not changing.
I have another idea on theming in general and I wish someone would see what they think but I'll leave that to you to ask if you want a new idea.
I am not a fan of either colour, but I don't like the gold colour more.
Why not make the colour customizable?
I'm going with regular design; as it seems simple and easier to read. A little bit worry about the adaptive color changing for the drop-down menu/setting and text might become a little more difficult to read. I might even prefer something sort of "blurred" transparent background, but really depends on the overall UI design; I know some phones have a little more transparency drop-down menu/notification that blurs the background and I personally think it looks nice.
, when are we going to see Zeek in the Community?
I went with the new design, with the caveat of it being selectable. If the transparency isn't right, or contrast is off, I'd like to able to select the current one, or select my own color.
That's a very good question. I'm sure the mods are very busy and he will be incorporated at some point in the future when they have more time. I can't wait to see how it pans out
New Design!
Yeah! We decided to go with Zeek name?
The final decision is up to , . It is his design
Windows 10 has a similar feature to the one proposed here: the ability to choose a highlight color from the wallpaper and use it for the start bar and other UI elements. It's very subtle and slick, and I'd love to see it on android too.
Iast I recall "Zeek" was it.... It can always change, up to the mods
New disrupts much unlike regular who always helps to stay focused
I went with the new design.
I am not a fan of the gold/beige look, so I stick with the original. If I could choose the colors for the background and the icon image colors, then that would be preferable to either.
I like the new design because it goes with the color scheme of the background. I'm using Nova and that's what it does.
while there is a cool factor with the dynamic design, I prefer static design because of ease of use. I feel that if it dynamically change to a color that is too bright or too dark can potentially made it harder to read under non-ideal lightning, since I like to be able to quickly glance the information from teh drop down menu, I would much prefer it to be just static so I can see the info quickly.
BTW, just notice that there a little gap between the quick toggle and the notification, something I think we should remove it, as it looks a bit ugly.
New Design - Lets spark change.!!!
I picked existing design, but I'd definitely vote for a third option of having both available and user-selectable.
I would prefer a stock Nougat design, which is themable, but the new design is a bit better than the old one.
The stock look is fine with me. I tend to disable it, and go without, or use a more customizable one anyway.
I like the old design, unless the new one allows you to control that behavior, then I would want to keep the old one, mainly because sometimes a certain color scheme may look great in a wallpaper, but it may create an undesirable color scheme for the menu when it averages that color in.
I don't feel strongly either way and can see how people will have different preferences, in which case making it an option to toggle in the settings might be best.
Android is all about customization, and using a simple personalized color accent rather than a bland UI that otherwise conflicts with one's wallpaper or theme gives the phone "personality". The notification shade is probably the most viewed/interactive element of a smartphone, so a small change-up could be delightful.
Some concerns with changing the dark notification shade background color would be potential problems with visibility/contrast or just downright being visually unpleasing depending on how the color is determined.
For people who don't want to fiddle with customization details but still enjoy a little flair, automated color determination based on the wallpaper seems ideal. For individuals who are very particular with matching appearances, maybe a custom color picker would be of use (the automation may not always get it "right"). And for those who want the original stock design, there could be an option to turn it off altogether.
I like the new design it's always a small tweak I've enjoyed along with swiping down on the home screen to expand the notification shade.
