SYNCUP drive sends 2017 Ford Explorer Sport into Limp Home Mode

T-Mobile sync drive is not compatible with the new Ford Explorer. If its connected for like 30 minutes it sets off all kinds of warnings and codes in the dash console. It disables things like AIR-BAGS, anti-lock brakes, traction control. however the device will still track in the app and the wifi still works.

The device should be compatible with 2017 ford explorers according to their compatibility checker.

For your vehicle, are you able to test it with other OBDII port devices such as the bluetooth enabled OBDII / CANbus scanners?

The OBDII interface should not even have direct control over safety systems in a car as they should be designed to function even in the case of a catastrophic failure of supporting systems.

As @razor512 pointed out the OBDII doesnt connect to the ECM that controls the vehicle so its more likely its a short connection some where or possible the Sync drive is not making a proper connection in the port for some reason even though the light might come on the vehicle software is heavily locked down and the drive cant turn off any of those functions

Same kind of things have been reported before with the Progressive SnapShot device before.
