During the launch event there was multiple partners that ZTE announced for offering the Axon M in Q1 2018 however there exclusive partner in the US is At&t and so it doesnt sound likely there will be any unlocked versions. Also with changes to adding new frequencies they would require new FCC testing & clearance as well as new software testing and other costly hurdles. Unless there was an extremely large demand it would be far to costly. With the next Axon coming up in the future it will be there unlocked flagship

Adding to @musicdjm post, M is indeed exclusive to AT&T here in the states, BUT if you buy the device (full price of course) you can request the Sim-unlock via AT&T Customer service , and they will glad to help.

@lzb302 if ZTE has a lot of success with the M perhaps there could be an unlocked M after AT&T 's exclusive deal is finished.
With regards to the radio frequencies you mentioned no the M will not get those frequencies because that would require a new processor. The

OK, let's try this again. I'm not sure what the processor has to do with anything. The 821 when paired with the right modem is capable of pretty much full support. In this case, this is a GSM only device that supports Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 29, 30, and 66. That means not only full support for AT&T, but for T-Mobile's LTE bands as well (other than 41 which only a couple of phones up until now support). Band 66 IS already included.
