My Z981 keeps reverting to the metro pcs boot screen. Some times I get a message saying "Unfortunately, stock Android has stopped." Then I get a rolling "Drive" screen. Can I fix this without losing all my contacts?
it could be software issue then. Doing a factory reset is certainly a good way to fix any software related issue. It essentially cleared all of the data and apps on the phone so it would be like the day you set it up. What you would loose is the app you have downloaded and app data. Also, anything you created would be wiped (photos, messages, music etc).
So the first thing is make sure you back up important things you want to save. Many app back data to the cloud and they often will able to sync them once you reinstall them from the playstore and log into your account. So check the app to see if you need to back the data. Photos, messages, and others stuff you created are not automatically backed up, so you would need to back them up.
Once you have everything backed up, then you can just factory reset the phone. Hope that will fix your issue.
The thumbnail dog chow chow.
If you have your contacts saved to your gmail account, then they won't get lost as it is saved in the cloud. Just log into your gmail account using a desktop browser, then on the upper right corner, click on the Contact (or click on this link: https://contacts.google.com/) and verify that your contacts are saved there.
As to your problem. Are you using sd card? If so, maybe take it out to see if the issue is resolved (just in case maybe the SD card is corrupted).
Ok, I checked and I do have my contacts on gmail.
I don't think my Z981 can use a sd card. Found the sim card and tried rebooting without it, same results.
What will I lose if I do a hard restart? (return to factory settings)
What kind of dog is that in your thumbnail? Looks cool.
Thank you. Z981 works again.
So glad to hear that. While it is a little inconvenience to do a factory reset, it is the easiest and quickest way to resolve any software related issue:).
The Z981 accepts a (Micro) SD card. It sits in the same tray, next to the SIM card.
