Navigation keys at the bottom of the screen no longer disappearing

So overnight, without touching the phone, the on screen navigation keys no longer slide back off the screen. How do I fix this.

Not too sure what do you mean slide back off the screen. I wonder if you meant the option to hide the navigation key. If so, under setting, features, navigation key (or just use the search option on top for navigation keys) and toggle "always show navigation bar"
